Announcement: Changes at Midfield Press
Dear Readers,
I wanted to let you know about some changes at Midfield Press. Jason Bruzzichesi, a founder of the site and up until now the Editor in Chief, is stepping aside. Jason recently married the love of his life, Amy. He is choosing to take time to focus on their family and his career, and as a result he is leaving Midfield Press behind. I wish Jason the best of luck, and we are grateful for the opportunity he provided to many writers at Midfield Press. He will always be welcomed back as a contributor, should he get the bug to write about lower league soccer in the USA.
Going forward, the site will be run by Chris Kivlehan (me). I am looking forward to making some improvements to the site. We are going to undergo a redesign in the near future to freshen up our look. I will seek feedback from you, our readers, on a couple of design options soon.
I am looking for more contributors to the site to increase our coverage of men’s and women’s lower division professional and semi-pro soccer in the USA. I have more opportunities for stories than I have the ability to fulfill myself. If you are interested in writing for the site, shoot me an email. As with most sites of this type, for now there is no monetary compensation involved, just a platform for your love of the game that has a decent level of visibility in the community. I have something in the works that will hopefully change the compensation aspect of that soon, however.
The thing I am most proud of about our work on Midfield Press to date is that fact that a number of lower league US soccer team owners have expressed that our coverage has made a positive impact on helping them gain visibility both in their local markets and the soccer community in general. I hope we can do more of that type of good in the years to come. While we must always remain objective and highlight when there are problems in the system to help drive improvement, ultimately the most joy comes from the success stories and inspirational tales whether on or off the field.
Thank you for taking the time to read this update about Midfield Press. I hope we give you more interesting content to read in the near future.
Sincerely,
Chris Kivlehan
